Practical & Theory
  • History and development of reflexology.
  • Understand and explain the Holistic Approach.
  • Understand and explain the concept of reflex zones and their functions for the feet and hands.
  • Describe the structure of the feet, ankles, lower leg, hands, wrists and lower arms.
  • Understand and describe disorders/conditions of the above.
  • Recognise contra-indications to reflexology.
  • Understand and explain cross referral areas for hands and feet.
  • Understand and explain client care.
  • Understand and explain possible reaction to treatment.
  • Understand and explain aftercare advice.
  • Understand and explain consent to treatment.
  • Understand and explain referral procedures.
  • Understand and explain the need to evaluate and review treatment programme.
  • Understand and explain the effects of stress on the body sytems and ways in which reflexology can help.
  • Understand and explain other complimentary therapies.
  • Understand and explain the importance of reflexology for clients and families receiving palliative or social care.
  • Understand and explain importance of external reading of the feet.
  • Understand, explain and locate appropriate reflex points/areas on hands and feet. (Use of foot charts.)
  • Understand, explain and interpret reflexes.

Case studies are also an essential part of this course and must be completed before the examination date.      The number of case studies require 10 people 4 times.

On completion of the above units and case studies, students can be entered for the ITEC Diploma.

The examination consists of:
  1. Practical examination.
  2. Theory examination of one 2 hour multiple choice paper.

If you do not hold a qualification in Anatomy and Physiology, and Professional Conduct and Business Awareness it will be necessary to undertake the lectures relevant to these units and take the theory papers. A fee is charged for attending these lectures.
